Maria, Naimul, Nazim and CNSKD Clinch Gold in Victory Day Karate

Dhaka, Dec 20 (UNB) – Iffat Ahasan Maria of Bangladesh Sitorio Karate Do Union (BSKDU) Clinched gold in the Senior Women’s Single Kata of the Victory Day Karate Competition at the National Sports Council Gymnasium on Friday.


Sakia Akther Rongun of Comilla Dragon Association bagged silver while Momena Khatun of Sitokai Karate Do Association (SKDA) claimed bronze in the day’s Senior Women’s Single Kata.


In the boys’ singles Kata (age group 10-12), Naimul Islam of BSKDU clinched gold, Jewel Rana of Hope World claimed silver while Afnan Hossain of Sitokai Karate Do secured bronze.


In the men’s Junior Single Kata (age group 16-18), Nazim Rahman of SK Ariana Academy secured gold, Arman Hossain of Sitokai Karate Do claimed silver while Nurul Toufiq of BSK earned bronze.


Besides, in the men’s Junior Team Kata (age group 16-18), Cenci Newton SKD clinched gold while Hope Worldwide claimed silver and bronze.


The two-day Victory Day Karate Competition under the auspices of Bangladesh Karate Federation was dedicated to memory of the martyred freedom fighters who laid down their lives in the Liberation War in 1971.


Some 250 players from different clubs, districts and services teams are taking part in the competition in men’s and women’s groups pitted in Kumite, Single Kata, Team Kata, and Cadet.


Earlier, Railway and Religious Affairs Minister M Mujibul Haque MP inaugurated the tournament as the chief guest.


Secretary of the National Sports Council Shibnath Roy was also present there as special guest.


President of Bangladesh Karate Federation and Director General of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Mohammad Mokhlesur Rahman presided over the inaugural function.
