Bogra, Nov 20 (UNB) – A court here on Wednesday acquitted three accused, including Ahle Hadith Andolon Bangladesh ameer Dr Asadullah Al Galib, of the charges in two cases in connection with the 2005 bomb attack on a troupe show at Shahjahanpur upazila.

The other two who got the acquittal are– Shafiqullah, son of Azizullah of Narayanganj district, and Joynal Sarkar, son of Diraj Sarkar Buda of Gabtali upazila in Bogra.

Judge Abul Hasnat M Abdul Hye of the Additional District and Session’s Judge Court-3 of Bogra passed the order.

As per the prosecution, on January 14, 2005, a bomb attack took place on a troupe show at Laxmikola village in the Shahjahanpur upazila, leaving rickshaw-puller Shafiqul Islam, son of Habibur Rahman of the village, killed and others injured.

Later, police filed two cases — one for killing and the other under the Explosive Substances Act — in connection with the incident.

Public prosecutor Sirajul Islam said the court earlier acquitted two former top leaders of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) Abdur Rahman and Siddiqul Islam alias Bangla Bhai of the charges in the cases as they were executed.
