He offers Eid prayers at Nat`l Eidgah, exchanges greetings at Bangabhaban

Dhaka, Aug 20 (UNB) - President Zillur Rahman has urged people to work together for the development of the country.

He made the call while addressing a gathering of dignitaries and invitees at a reception held at the Bangabhaban on the occasion of  Eid-ul-Fitr on Monday. The President received the guests from 10 am to 11:30 am.

Ministers, the Chief Justice, senior lawyers, the chiefs of the three services, foreign and local diplomats, academics and educationists, politicians, litterateurs and journalists attended the reception.

The President exchanged Eid greetings with the guests.

Earlier, President Zillur Rahman offered his Eid payers at the National Eidgah on the High Court premises.

Maulana Salahuddin, Pesh Imam (lead Imam) of the Baitul Mokarram National Mosque, conducted the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at the National Eidgah which began at 8:30 am.

Chief Justice M Mozammel Hossain, ministers, state ministers, judges of the Supreme Court, parliament members, senior political leaders, diplomats from various Muslim countries, administrators of Dhaka City Corporations, and senior civil and military officials offered prayers with the President at the main Eid congregation at the National Eidgah.

At Bangabhaban, judges of the Supreme Court, members of parliament, leaders of different political parties, including Awami League, deans of the diplomatic corps, ambassadors and high commissioners of different countries to Bangladesh, heads of international agencies, editors of national dailies, secretaries, vice chancellors of public and private universities, recipients of national awards, senior journalists, writers, poets, cultural personalities, representatives of different organisations and business community leaders, religious leaders, artistes and high civil and military officials joined the reception.
