Dhaka, Aug 13 (UNB) – Rab troops held 35 suspected members of the banned Islamist outfit Hizb ut-Tahrir from a city restaurant on Sunday.

Tipped off, the elite force members raided the restaurant ‘Asiana’ at Panthapath around 7:30 pm on Sunday and detained the 35 people while holding a organisational meeting, Commander Sohail, Director Media wing of the elite force, told UNB on Monday.

Acting on their statements, the Rab men also conducted simultaneous overnight drives at  21 houses of the detainees in different areas of the capital and recovered  huge leaflets, jihad books, computers, 50 mobile phone sets and others goods, he said.

“In preliminary investigation, we got their involvement with Hizb ut-Tahrir,” Commander Sohail said.
