Housewife injured by husband for dowry in Jessore

Benapole (Jessore), Aug 1 (UNB) – A housewife was mercilessly beaten up allegedly by her husband at Arendra village in Sadar upazila on Tuesday night for refusing to bring dowry from her parents.

The victim was identified as Nasima Khatun, 23, wife of Nasir Hossain of the village.

Local people said Nasir married co-villager Nasima four years back and since then he used to torture her for dowry.  

Neighbours said on the fateful night Nasir pressed Nasima to bring
Tk 40,000 as dowry from her father and on her refusal he beat her mercilessly with a hammer, leaving her seriously injured.

She was rushed to Jessore Medical College Hospital where her condition was stated to be critical.
