4 Ctg BNP leaders sent to jail

Chittaging, July 31 (UNB) – A court here on Tuesday sent four local BNP leaders to jail rejecting the bail petition in an explosive case filed over a year ago.

The court also granted bail to a BNP activist on medical ground.

The jailed leaders are: Md Ilias, secretary general of Madarbari Ward unit BNP, Jamaluddin Jasim, secretary of Pathantuli ward unit BNP, Amir Hossain, secretary of Uttar Pathantuli BNP and Nuruddin Sohel, leader of Double Mooring thana unit BNP.

Metropolitan Sessions Judge SM Mujibur Rahman ordered them into jail turning down their bail plea upon their surrender before court in the morning.

The judge granted bail to Madarbari Ward BNP activist Md Taiyab who was sick.

Three BNP activists were held along with two cocktails and 450 liters petrol from a procession in Agrabad on July 6, 2011.

According to their confessional statement huge explosives were recovered from the rooftop of multi-storied `Royal Palace` in the city`s Kadamtali and and a case was filed with Double Mooring police under Explosive ACT against 21 local BNP leaders and workers.

Charge sheet was submitted accusing named and unnamed 100 BNP leaders and workers on June 17 this year and the case was transferred to Metropolitan Sessions Judge`s court from Metropolitan Magistrate`s Court which sent the four accused to jail today.
