GAUHATI, India, July 31 (AP/UNB) - An official says a roadside bomb attack by rebels in India's troubled northeast has killed two soldiers and injured several others.

Assam state Home Secretary G.D. Tripathi says the attack on an army convoy took place Tuesday near Goalpara, 150 kilometers (95 miles) west of Gauhati, the state capital.

He says no one has claimed responsibility for the blast. More than two dozen rebel groups are fighting in India's northeast for independence or wide autonomy.
