Comilla, July 31 (UNB)-Two people were killed and another was injured when a covered van hit a CNG-run autorickshaw on Comilla-Chittagong highway at Kala Kachuawa in Burichong upazila Tuesday morning.

The identities of the victims could not be known immediately.

Police said the accident took place when the speedy covered van hit an autorickshaw, both bound for Comilla Cantonment area, from behind at about 7:00 am, leaving two passengers of the autorickshaw dead on the spot and its driver injured seriously.

On information, Mainamati highway police recovered the bodies and sent those to hospital morgue for autopsy.

The injured autorickshaw driver was admitted to upazila health complex.

Police seized the covered van but its driver managed to flee.
