Khaleda greets Pranab

Dhaka, July 23 (UNB) – Leader of the Opposition and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has greeted Pranab Mukherjee for being elected as President of India.

In a felicitation message to Pranab on Monday, Khaleda on behalf of her party and the people of Bangladesh congratulated Pranab on his victory in the presidential election as the first Bangali.

All Bangalis are proud that a Bangali has ascended on the highest office of India, Khaleda said in her message.

She hoped the existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and India would be strengthened further under his leadership.

The BNP chairperson also wished him good health and long life.

UPA nominee Pranab Mukherjee became the 13th President of India defeating opposition-backed PA Sangma on Sunday.
