Khaleda hosts Iftar for political leaders

Dhaka, July 23 (UNB) - BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Monday took Iftar with leaders of different political parties at LD Hall in the Parliament.

Khaleda, also the leader of the opposition in parliament, hosted the high-profile Iftar party for country’s top politicians.

Chiefs of different political parties attended the Iftar. No one from the ruling Awami League, however, attended the function though top AL leaders were invited by the BNP chief.

Entering the venue Khaleda exchanged pleasantries with the invited guests.

Later, she went on to the stage and greeted the top leaders of different political parties.

Before Iftar, a special prayer was offered seeking peace and progress of the country and welfare of its people.

Jatiya Party (Ershad) presidium member Kazi Jafar Ahmed, , Bikalpa Dhara President Prof AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury, Liberal Democratic Party President Oli Ahmed,  Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Naeb-e-Ameers Najir Ahmed and Abdus Sobhan, BJP Chairman Andalib Rahman MP,  JSD president ASM Abdur Rob, Jatiya Ganatantrik Party president Shafiul Alam Pradhan and IOJ secretary Abdul Latif Nizami ,among others, attended the Iftar party.

BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other leaders of the party also joined the party.

Earlier, Khaleda had hosted an Iftar party for orphans and Islamic scholars on the first day of Ramadan at Ladies Club in the city’s Eskaton area.
