Cabinet happy over implementation of its decisions

News - Cabinet happy over implementation of its decisions
Dhaka, July 23 (UNB) -The cabinet at its regular weekly meeting on Monday expressed satisfaction over the 92 percent implementation rate of its decisions during the last three and a half years of the present government.

The meeting was held at the Bangladesh Secretariat with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

After the meeting, Cabinet Secretary M Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan briefed reporters.

He said different ministries and divisions implemented 974 decisions out of 1055 which is about 20 percent higher than the corresponding period of the previous BNP-Jamaat government.

Musharraf Hossain said the cabinet of the previous government took 544 decisions and implemented 395 of those during the same period.

Besides, the cabinet approved 33 policies/strategies, 86 agreements/MoUs and 180 laws were enacted in parliament during the three and a half years of the present government.

The Cabinet Secretary said the meeting also endorsed the proposal of ratifying the Bilateral Agreement on Promotion and Protection of Investments between Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Another two proposals of ratifying the Saarc Agreement on Mutual Arrangement on Recognition of Conformity Assessment and the Saarc Agreement on Implementation of Regional Standards were also approved by the cabinet.

The cabinet unanimously adopted a condolence motion on the deaths of the country’s legendary writer and famed filmmaker Humayun Ahhmed and renowned architect Mazharul Islam, the cabinet secretary added.

The cabinet was apprised about the participation of Water Resources Minister Romesh Chandra Sen in the Singapore International Water Week 2012, participation of Bangladesh delegation led by Health Minister Prof Dr AFM Ruhal Haque in 35th Conference of the World Health Organisation held in Geneva, participation of Environment and Forests Minister Dr Hassan Mahmud in the Rio+20 conference held in Brazil and participation of Bangladesh delegation in the 101st International Labour Conference in Geneva.

Cabinet members, advisers to the Prime Minister and State Ministers and secretaries concerned were present.
