
Dhaka, July 18 (UNB) - Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed her satisfaction over the excellent results achieved in this year’s HSC and equivalent examinations and congratulated the students, teachers and all concerned.
She received the results from Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid at a ceremony at her official resident Ganabhaban in the morning.
Terming education as the tool of poverty alleviation, Sheikh Hasina asked all concerned to take more initiative to ensure education for all.
“The change of education system has yielded the positive results,” she said, adding that the students of the country are meritorious and her government is implementing various programmes to ensure cent percent pass in the public examinations.
Referring to the announcement of the results online while talking with the people of Rajshahi through video conference, the Prime Minister said: “Digital Bangladesh has been built as pledged in our election manifesto.”
She said now students even in rural areas need not to go to the upazila and district headquarters for their results as it could be known through a simple SMS from mobile phone.
The chairmen of all the education boards gave the result sheets of their boards separately to the Prime Minister.
As the Prime Minister pressed the button on a designated computer, the exam results of the ten boards were published online.
After the publication of the results online, Hasina talked through video conference with the Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation, Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and students and teachers of the Rajshahi Government College and Rajshahi Government Women College.
Responding to a demand of a student of Rajshahi Government Women College during the video conference, the Prime Minister instantly announced that a hostel for the students of the college will be built.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan, Education Secretary Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury and PM’s Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad were present.
