Abahani clinches Women’s team title of Lotto Open TT

Dhaka, July 17 (UNB)- Abahani Limited clinched the women’s team event title of the First Lotto Open Table Tennis Championship beating Destiny TT Club by 3-2 sets in a keenly contested match at the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed wooden floor gymnasium here today (Tuesday).

Abahani Limited emerged unbeaten champions securing a straight 12 points from four matches while Destiny TT Club finished runners-up collecting nine points from four outings.

In the day’s other women’s team event matches, Abahani Ltd beat Eleven Star by 3-1 sets, Destiny TT Club defeated Eleven Star 3-0, Destiny TT Club outplayed Dhaka Youngs 3-0, Eleven Star (Rangpur) beat Dhaka Women’s by 3-1 sets at the same venue.

In the men’s team event quarterfinals (Group A), Sheikh Russell KC beat Islamic Union by 3-0 sets, Eleven Star beat Ping Pong by 3-2 sets, Arunima defeated Narail district by 3-1 sets while Destiny TT Club beat Bangladesh Biman Red Team by 3-0 sets today (Tuesday).

In Group B, Pallick beat Ekota Sripur by 3-0 sets, Biman Blue team beat Muller TT by 3-0 sets, North South University got walkover against Gaibanda while Shishiron beat Jagannath University by 3-0 sets.

The prize-giving ceremony of the meet will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) at the same venue. Former Adviser of the Caretaker Government Dr. Jamilur Reza Chowdhury will be chief guest at tomorrow’s closing function.
