Mob attacks Harirampur Rajuk office

Dhaka, July 7 (UNB) – A group of angry people ransacked the temporary office of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) under Turag thana on Saturday.

Several hundred people from Harirampur union turned violent after hearing a rumour that Rajuk will soon acquire 2000 acres of land at the union for the implementation of its III phase housing project.  

Police said the mob attacked the Rajuk office at Harirampur, ransacked its furniture and a set a vehicle on fire at noon.

On information, a fire service unit from Tongi rushed to the spot but the angry people attacked them too and damaged a vehicle apparently to prevent the fire fighters from reaching the spot.
