Dhaka, July 4 (UNB) - A parliamentary watchdog on Wednesday suggested sending back Rohingya refugees to their homeland through Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
The parliamentary standing committee on CHT Affairs Ministry at its 23rd meeting at Sangsad Bhaban came up with the recommendation while discussing the law and order situation in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) region.
Chaired by committee chairman Mohammad Shah Alam, the meeting recommended carrying out afforestation on allocated land in the CHT region under the supervision of the forest department.
It also advised for involving the residents of hills in the social afforestation programme.
Committee member and State Minister for CHT Affairs Dipankar Talukder, Bir Bahadur and Jatindra Lal Tripura attended the meeting. High officials of CHT and Social Welfare Ministries were also present.
