News - China keen to expand trade with Bangladesh: Chinese delegation
Dhaka, June 25 (UNB) – China has expressed keen interest to expand its relations of cooperation with Bangladesh alongside expanding trade, investment and commercial activities.

A visiting Chinese delegation, led by Chen Wenqin, deputy secretary general of Communist Party of China’s Fujian Provincial Committee, showed the interest when they met President Zillur Rahman at Bangabhaban on Monday.

Information and Communication Technology Minister Syed Abul Hussain and Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jun were, among others, present on the occasion.

During the meeting, Chen Wenqin said Bangladesh is a neighbouring country of China, and the two countries have been enjoying excellent relations.

“China is keen to expand its relations of cooperation with Bangladesh alongside expanding trade, investment and commercial activities…China has long been working to this end,” he said.

The Chinese delegation appreciated the present government for keeping up the increased economic growth here in the country.

President Zillur Rahman welcomed the Chinese delegation to Bangabhaban and termed China a good friend and important development partner of Bangladesh.

The President also thanked the people and the government of China for continuing its assistance for the socioeconomic development of Bangladesh.

Referring to the recent visit of Bangladesh’s Prime Minister to China and Chinese Vice President’s visit to Bangladesh, Zillur Rahman said the relations between the two countries have further been strengthened after these state visits.

President Zillur Rahman noted that Bangladesh strongly believes in ‘One-China-Policy’.

Secretaries to the President’s Office were also present.
