Robbery at 2 jewellery shops in Nawabganj

Keraniganj, June 24 (UNB) – Robbers looted gold, gold ornaments and cash worth Tk. 15 lakh from two jewellery shops at Sholla Bazar in Nawabganj upazila of Dhaka district early Sunday.

Locals said 20/25 robbers at first tied five night guards of the bazar at about 3 am.

Then they entered into Joy Swarna Bitan and Grameen Jewelers after breaking open the lock of the shutters and looted 32 tolas of gold, 20 tolas ornaments and Tk 1.50 lakh and fled the scene.

Ratan Mandal, owner of Joy Swarna Bitan, and Uttam Shil of Grameen Jewelers, claimed that the robbers took away valuables worth about Tk. 15 lakh.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nawabganj thana Masud Karim confirmed the incident.
