News - Khaleda meets OIC Secretary General
Dhaka, June 20 (UNB) – Opposition Leader and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has called on the Secretary General of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Dr Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, in Jeddah.

The meeting took place at the OIC Headquarters in Jeddah on Tuesday, said a press release on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Begum Zia and Dr Ihsanoglu apparently discussed on various issues of relevance to the OIC in particular, and the Muslim Ummah in general.

Khaleda’s entourage members and high officials of OIC were present at the meeting.

After the meeting, Begum Zia flew to Riyadh from Jeddah. Saudi Royal Protocol high officials and expatriate BNP leaders received her at King Khaled International Airport and took her to Riyadh Conference Palace as Royal guest.

Earlier, the BNP chief performed holy Umrah in Makkah on Monday night

She is scheduled to go to The King Faisal Specialized Hospital on Wednesday for health checkup.

Khaleda went to Saudi Arabia on Saturday at the invitation of the Saudi government for her medical treatment.

The BNP chief is scheduled to return home Thursday.
