News - Hartal underway peacefully in Rangpur
Rangpur, June 17 (UNB)-A half-day hartal called by district unit BNP and its front organisations is underway peacefully in Rangpur on Sunday.

District BNP and units of Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal and Swechchhasebak Dal enforced the shutdown demanding immediate release of their four central leaders and withdrawal of all 'false' cases against them.

The four leaders were re-arrested at the gate of Kashimpur Central Jail after they were released on Thursday night in an arson case.

They are-president of Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel, its General Secretary Mir Sharafat Ali Safu, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal President Sultan Salahuddin Tuku and Jubo Dal General Secretary Saiful Islam Nirob.

All the educational institutions and shops remained closed and no incidence of picketing was reported till 11:50 am.
