Chittagong, June 16 (UNB) – Unloading of goods from 18 ships at the outer-anchorage and jetty of Chittagong Seaport remained stalled since Friday afternoon due to incessant rain.
“Though unloading got disrupted, there’s no problem in arrival at and departure of ships from jetties,” port secretary Syed Mohammad Farhad Uddin said.
Harunur Rashid, an official at Patenga Met Office, said rain may continue in the district during the next 24 hours.
The city and its nearby areas are experiencing incessant rainfall due to monsoon. Local Met Office recorded 149.4 mm of rainfall since Friday evening to 3:30pm on Saturday.
Chittagong Port has been advised to hoist local cautionary signal number three.
Meanwhile, different parts of the city went under rainwater, causing sufferings to commuters, especially the office-goers and students.
