BEIJING, JUNE 13 (AP/UNB) - China says it is up to Oslo to improve relations after a visa denial by China indicated it is still displeased the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to a Chinese dissident.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Weimin told a news conference Wednesday that Norway needed to take practical measures to repair relations. He gave no details.

Former Norwegian Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik has said China denied him a travel visa without explanation. He was to attend a religious conference in Nanjing this week.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee is independent of the government. Norway is among many countries that have called for the release of Nobel laureate Liu Xiaobo, who is serving an 11-year prison sentence for advocating democratic reforms.
