1 held for gun attack on Sarak Bhaban

Dhaka, June 13 (UNB) – A man was arrested from Shaymoli in the city early Wednesday for his alleged involvement in a gun attack on Sarak Bhaban on Tuesday.  

Shahbagh thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sirajul Islam said police raided the residence of Abul Kalam and arrested him at about 2:30am.

Abul Kalam confessed to his involvement in the firing incident, the OC said.
 
Earlier on Tuesday afternoon, a group of gunmen stormed the Sarak Bhaban premises and fired shots, leaving five people, including four contractors, injured.

Witnesses said the thugs, numbering 40-50, entered the Sarak Bhaban compound in a private car, a microbus and 5-7 motorcycles.

A case was filed with Shahbag thana on Tuesday night in this connection.
