Dhaka, June 12 (UNB) - Commerce Minister GM Quader on Tuesday underscored the need for the best use of information and communication technology (ICT) in trade and commerce for boosting the country’s export growth.
“In this era of globalization, it’s necessary to ensure the best use of ICT in trade and commerce to help expand the country’s export growth,” the minister said while addressing an agreement-signing ceremony at a city Hotel.
The deal was signed between Brack Bank and Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) to introduce online banking facilities of different services in the automation process of textiles division with a view to turning the EPB a digital organisation.
EBP vice-chairman Shubhashish Bose and Brac Managing Director and CEO Syed Mahbubur Rahman signed the deal on behalf of their respective sides.
Addressing the function, GM Quader said his government was working sincerely to ensure harassment-free services for the exporters.
He urged the exporters to be cautious and increase the use of ICT to check official corruption.
With the introduction of online-payment system in export, the businessmen will get quick services from the EPB, he hoped.
