Dhaka, June 9 (UNB) - Export of domestic products has been facing obstacles in the absence of an internationally accredited research centre in the country, causing huge loss of foreign exchange, speakers told a seminar here on Saturday.
Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and Bangladesh Accreditation Board jointly organized the seminar, ‘Accreditation: Supporting Safe Food and Clean Drinking Water’, at the DCCI auditorium.

Addressing the seminar, Dilip Barua said exporters spend a lot of foreign exchange in order to get international standard accreditation for their products.
He stressed strengthening the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) and the BAB to expedite accreditation process in the country.
The Minister also urged all to create awareness about accreditation.

The DCCI president said the Bangladesh Accreditation Board should play a role as regulator to eradicate constraints in exporting products.
