NEW DELHI, JUNE 9 (AP/UNB) - Masked members of a hacking group have held a protest in New Delhi against what they call the Indian government's attempts to restrict freedom on the Internet.
Around 30 activists wearing masks gathered at a central park on Saturday and shouted slogans demanding an end to all censorship.
A leading activist, Alok Dixit, said the group planned to raise public awareness about attempts by government to impose restrictions on Internet content.
In recent months, the Indian government has restricted access to file-sharing websites.
The Indian hacker group is a spinoff of hacking group Anonymous. It has targeted several Indian websites, ranging from those of government agencies and political parties to private ISPs and other corporate groups.
