News - Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan made new Army Chief
Dhaka, Jun 7 (UNB) - President Zillur Rahman on Tuesday appointed Quarter Master General (QMG) Lieutenant General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan as the new Chief of Army Staff.

Talking to UNB over phone, Secretary to the President's Office Shafiul Alam said the President signed the appointment letter of the new Chief of Army Staff this afternoon.

Besides, he said, the President extended the tenure of incumbent Chief of Army Staff General M Abdul Mubeen for 10 days as he is scheduled to go retirement on June 15.

President Zillur as the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces made the appointment and also ranked up the Lt Gen Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan as General from June 25, said the secretary the President.
