Bangladesh included in Global Weather Information Exchange Programme

Dhaka, June 4 (UNB) – Secretary General of World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Michel Jarraud has praised initiatives taken by Bangladesh to offset the risk and challenges of climate change.

He also said that Bangladesh has been included in the master plan of Global Weather Information Exchange Programme (GWIEP).

The praise came during his courtesy call on Environment and Forest Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud at the latter`s Secretariat office on Monday afternoon.

During the meeting Michel Jarraud said that WMO is closely monitoring all initiatives undertaken by Bangladesh to face the challenges of changing climate.

Bagladesh is playing an important role to face the challenges of global worming, he said.
 
WMO attaches importance to all steps and activities of Bangladesh regarding climate change, he added.

Reciprocating his gesture Hasan Mahmud thanked him for attaching importance to the role being played by Bangladesh to face adverse effect of climate change and its activities regarding global worming.

The Minister also thanked him for including Bangladesh in the master plan of the GWIEP.
