
Benapole (Jessore), June 3 (UNB) - Four members of a family suffered burn injuries when a criminal hurled acid at them at Dattagati village in Abhoynagar upazila of Jessore on Saturday night.
The victims were identified as Champa Begum, 30, daughter of Abdullah Molla, her sister Achhia Khatun, 15, brothers Hasib, 7, and Sakib Hossain, 6, of the village.
Abhoynagar thana OC Ahsan Habib said Mamun Hossain, son of Imdadul Huq of Tala upazila of Satkhira, used to work as domestic help at the house of Abdullah Molla since long. Taking advantage of his closeness, Hossan recently gave a proposal to marry Achhia which her father refused and drove him out of his house.
Later, angry Mamun along with his accomplices entered the house at the dead of night and hurled acid at Achhia and other inmates while they were asleep.
The victims were rushed to a local hospital and later shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated.
None was arrested in this connection.
A case was filed.
