Minor girl, pregnant woman violated in Sylhet

Sylhet, May 28 (UNB) – A minor girl and a pregnant housewife of minority community were allegedly raped by identified criminals in the district on Saturday and Sunday.

A gang of 6/7 local criminals, led by Chikon Ali, Faizur Rahman and Yusuf Ali of Mukamergul village of Khadimpara union of sadar upazila stormed into the residence of Dipu Deo at neighbouring Dalaipara village early Saturday when Dipu and his wife Sumi Bari, alias Kuti Beg, 25, a four-month pregnant woman, were sleeping.

The gangsters tied Dipu`s hands and legs with rope and dumped him in a pond and raped Kuti Beg one after another and safely made their ways.

Hearing hue and cry neighbours woke up and rescued Dipu and Kuti in senseless condition.
Being informed Shah Poran police rushed to the spot and admitted Kuti to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.

In separate incident, Salik Uddin, 35, reportedly a local criminal and son of Abdul Aziz broke open the door of the residence of a poor woman who was out early Sunday and violated her 12-yea-old daughter at gun point when she was sleeping along with her younger sister at their thatched dwelling at Laxmipur village under No 1 Laxmiprasad Purbo union in Kanaighat upazila at 3 am.

UP chairman Faiz Ahmed and local people took the girl, whose father died recently, to Kanaighat thana to lodge a complain on Sunday.
