News - Inu for dialogue on alternative system for fair polls
Dhaka, May 23 (UNB) - President of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) Hasanul Haq Inu on Wednesday said there should be a dialogue to work out an alternative mechanism for holding credible polls.

“A broad dialogue can help solve the ongoing political stalemate. The dialogue on a system alternative to the old one (caretaker government system) can be held anywhere. We’re ready to take an initiative to this end,” Inu told reporters at a programme at the Jatiya Sangsad Media Centre.

Terming the opposition’s demand for restoration of the caretaker government system illogical and unconstitutional, he said, “Khaleda Zia in her party’s policymaking meetings termed the last national election which was held under a caretaker government an election of rigging. Even then she now wants restoration of the CG system.”

Inu said BNP can place their formula, if any, alternative to the CG system and dialogue in this regard can be held both in and outside parliament.

He said his party is ready to provide all-out support to both the major political parties in holding a dialogue on alternative formula to the caretaker government system.

JSD leaders Mainuddin Khan Badal MP and Shirin Akhter were also present.
