President shocked at deaths of Shafiuddin, Sultana Zaman

Dhaka, May 20 (UNB) – President Zillur Rahman has expressed his deep shock at the deaths of noted painter and printmaker Shafiuddin Ahmed and film actress Sultana Zaman.

In a condolence message on Sunday, the President said the nation with deep respect would remember contributions of both artistes made to their respective fields during their lifetime.

“Ideals of both the renowned artistes remain as the model among the future generation,” he said.

The President also prayed for the departed souls and expressed his sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Shafiuddin died of old-age complications at the city’s Square Hospitals early Sunday while Sultana Zaman who had long been suffering from kidney ailments breathed her last at her city residence at 7:30 am today.
