4 salt factories fined in N’ganj

Narayanganj, May 17 (UNB) – A mobile court in separate drives on Wednesday fined four salt factories Tk 4.5 lakh on charge of manufacturing and processing salt in unhygienic environment in Nitaiganj area of the district town.

A joint team of Rab-11 and BSTI conducted the drives led by Executive Magistrate Sharif Mohammad Farhad Hossain.

Magistrate Sharif said on secret information they conducted the drives at Agrani Iodized and Mainuddin Salt Factory in the area in the afternoon and fined Tk 1 lakh and Tk 2 lakh respectively for producing salt in unhygienic environment without having BSTI license.

They also seized 2000 sacks of salt from the two factories and also sealed the factories.

Later, the mobile court also conducted drives at Uttara Salt Factory and Garibe Newaz Salt Factory and fined them Tk 50,000 and Tk 1 lakh respectively for the same offence.
