Dhaka, May 7 (UNB)- Rajdhani Unnyan Kartipakhha (Rajuk) started an eviction drive on Monday morning to demolish Wonderland amusement park in the city’s Gulshan area as it was built encroaching a Dhaka City Corporation land.
The eviction drive, led by Executive Magistrate Rokon-ud-dowla, began following a court order that declared illegal the lease of DCC land on which it was built.
Rajuk had allocated the land to Dhaka City Corporation for constructing a children park open for all. But the city corporation had leased out the land to the private company flouting the existing rules.
The Rajuk authorities have removed the main gate of Wonderland park as well as its wall today (Monday) without any resistance.
The park authorities also started removing different ride facilities from the park, said officer-in-charge of Gulshan police station Rafiqul Islam.
The eviction drive will continue until the removal of all structures and ride facilities from the park, said a police officer.
