COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, Apr 10 (AP/UNB) - Police say a Sri Lankan political activist with dual Australian citizenship who was allegedly kidnapped last weekend has been deported.

Police spokesman Ajith Rohana said Premkumar Gunaratnam, leader of the newly formed Frontline Socialist Party, told authorities he was kidnapped and held for four days.

Party members say he was released after the Australian Embassy intervened following allegations that government forces were behind the abduction.

Another party leader who disappeared around the same time and is believed to have been abducted has not been found.
