Dhaka, Mar 07 (UNB) - A female student of Jahangirnagar University (JU) was killed in a road crash in city`s Mohammadpur area on Wednesday evening.

The dead is Tanjila Rahman Tonni, 23, International Relations 3rd year student of JU and daughter of Mofizur Rahman Khoka, Gulshan Branch Citibank officer and resident of holding No 112, Ring Road, Shyamoli, Adabar, Dhaka.

Tonni was going to her tutor at Tajmahal Road in Mohammadpur by a cycle-rickshaw at 4 pm.

She fell on the road as a pick-up van hit her rickshaw from behind, leaving her severely injured in the head.

She was rushed to Somorita Hospital at Panthapath and was declared dead by duty doctor at Dhaka Medical College Hospital where she was referred to following deterioration at 7 pm.

She hailed from Bholabo village of Rupganj of Narayanganj district.

Police seized the pick-up van.
