Dhaka, Feb 8 (UNB) - BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday termed the entire process of appointing the new Chief Election Commissioner unlawful and unconstitutional.

He made the instant reaction when reporters sought his comment on the appointment of the new Election Commission Commissioner at BNP’s central office in the afternoon.

The President on Wednesday appointed former Secretary Qazi Rakib Uddin Ahmad as new Chief Election Commissioner for the next five years.

Asked whether BNP rejects the CEC, Fakhrul said time has not come yet to say about that.

He, however, hastened to say the matter which s illegal the question does not arrive about its acceptance and rejection.
