News - Politics of revenge frustrates the nation: Ershad
Brahmanbaria, Jan 11 (UNB) - Digging at the Prime Minister and opposition leader without naming them Jatiya Party chairman H M Ershad has said the nation is today frustrated because of politics of vengeance are pursued by the two leaders.

“The two leaders by their words and deeds have been manifesting their politics of revenge. Their behaviour has totally frustrated the nation. Instead of development, corruption, tenderbaji and terrorism are pervasive across the country,” he told a public meeting at Nabinagar Pilot High School ground Wednesday afternoon.

A partner of the Awami League led grand alliance government Ershad said his party will contest the future election without getting into any alliance. “We will no longer allow any party go to power riding on our shoulder.”

In veiled attack on Awami League he said those who came to power with the help of Jatiya Party have forgotten ‘even the language of gratitude’. “We shall not give the opportunity again in future.”

Giving details of developments in the country during his rule, the former President painted a grim picture. “People are not in peace now. Poverty and fear are stalking their face.”

Ershad claimed love of the people for good deeds he did during his time benefiting them. “People want me. That is why I’m moving round the countryside...Jatiya Party will alone contest the future election and repay the debts of love of the people.”

“I had been dubbed as corrupt. But the nation today know who are the corrupts? I’m away from the power for 21 years. Bangladesh has become the champion of corruption for five times during this period. People know the champions of corruption.”

Jahangir Mohammad Adel, Ziaul Haq Mridha, Rezaul Islam Bhuiyan, Kazi Mamunur Rashid and Shafiqur Rahman are among other addressed the meeting.
