JSC, JDC results show marked success

News - JSC, JDC results show marked success
Dhaka, Dec 28 (UNB) - A total of 15,06,783 students came out successful in this year’s Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations, showing a pass percentage of 83.71.

The success rate is 10.67 percent higher than that of the previous year.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid termed it as a total success since progress is there in all sections.

The success rate in the JSC examinations is 82.67 while 88.71 in the JDC examinations, which was 71.34 and 81.03 percent respectively in 2010.

A total of 30,852 students under eight general education boards and one madrasa board bagged the highest grade point average (GPA-5) this year against 8556 last year.

Of the GPA-5 performers, 29,838 are school students while the remaining 1,014 madrasa students.

Barisal Education Board was on top with a 93.13 percent success while Dhaka Education Board secured the top position with the highest GPA-5 performers (12021).

Comilla has had a 91.25 percent success while Sylhet 83.34 percent, Dhaka 81.45 percent, Rajshashi 79.88 percent, Jessore 79.87 percent and Chittagong Education Board 72.65 percent.

Rajuk Uttara Model School and College secured the top position in Dhaka with cent percent success rate and 304 students’ achieving the GPA-5.

Motijheel Ideal School and College bagged the second position while Mirzapur Cadet College emerged third.

After handing over the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid held a press conference at the ministry and briefed journalists about the published results

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina received a copy of the results at around 1:00pm.

The results are available on www.educationboardresults.gov.bd and the candidates can also get their results through short message service of Teletalk mobile phone operator.

The JSC and JDC exams started on November 1 with more than 18 lakh Class-VIII students of schools and madrasas registering to sit for the exams. The examinations ended on November 21.

The total number of registered examinees were 18,62,865 but 17,99,947 students appeared in the JSC and JDC exams. A total of 62,918 students skipped the examinations.

On the other hand, a total of 9,62,775 female students took part in the JSC and JDC exams. Of them, 7,94,594 students came out successful and 15,318 got GPA-5.

Under the Madrasah Education Board, a total of 3,09,902 students took part in the JDC exams. Of them, 2,44,903 students passed the exams and 1,014 students got GPA-5. The pass percentage is 88.71.

Education Secretary Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, and chairmen of the eight general boards and madrasah education board were also present at the press briefing.
