Sylhet, Dec 26 (UNB) - Robbers looted valuables and cash worth about Tk 14 lakh from an expatriate’s house at village Ailapur under Borolekha upazila in Moulvibazar early Monday.
Family members and police sources said a group armed and masked robbers numbering seven to eight stormed into the house of Azizur Rahman - Haris Villa at around 3am.
The robbers confined inmate of the house Gias Uddin at gun point and looted 24 tolas of gold ornaments, three mobile phone sets and Tk 21,000 in cash.
The robbers managed to escape the spot quickly.
Sub-inspector Abdul Kader of Borolekha thana said they visited the spot in the morning but nobody filed case in this regard. “Necessary steps will be taken if anybody files case in this regard,” he added.
Locals alleged that the incidents of robbery, theft and snatching have increased in recent days.
Five robberies and eight theft incidents took place in the last three months that created panic among the people of the locality.
