Habiganj, Dec 7 (UNB) - Robbers looted cash and valuable documents from LGED office in the town early Tuesday.

Police said a gang of robbers wearing mask swooped on the LGED office, located 2 kms off the town, and tied up the hands and legs of night guards with ropes.

They then looted cash and valuable documents after breaking open five steel almirahs.

On information, police rushed to the spot.

Police, however, said that it was not a robbery incident.

Police arrested two ansars, who were as posted as night guards at the office, for interrogation. They are Shamim Mia and Kajal Mia.

LGED Executive Engineer Mohammad Rezaul Karim said that a tender worth about Tk 4.50 crore was scheduled to be dropped today (Tuesday). Perhaps it might have happened to hinder the tender works.

The LGED official, however, failed to say anything about the amount of goods, which were looted during the incident.
