Dhaka, June 21 (UNB) - State Minister for Environment and Forest Dr Hasan Mahmud on Monday said the country and society cannot surrender to black money and pride.
He made the remark as some developers and realtors recently opposed with arrogance the Detailed Area Plan (DAP) aimed at ensuring planned development of Dhaka City.
Replying to a question, Dr Hasan, who attended the Monday’s cabinet meeting that discussed the DAP in detail, told UNB that no one is above law and everything will be done based on justice and law.
He said the country will be run in accordance with the rule of law and every citizen is equal before the law.
To another question, the State Minister admitted that many forest areas were “illegally occupied by certain people during the past BNP rule.”
