Create battalion force to ensure security of Parliament: JS body

Dhaka, July 23 (UNB) – The Committee on Parliament on Monday asked the Home Ministry for creating a specialised protection battalion force to ensure security on the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban premises and the residences of parliament members.The proposal came at the 11th meeting of the Committee on Parliament held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its chairman Mohammad Abdus Shahid in the chair.The committee also asked the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) to deploy a traffic police surgeon equipped with a walkie-talkie along with adequate a number of constables at the entrance to Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban from the MP Hostel of Manik Mian Avenue. The committee recommended the Public Works Division (PWD), among other things, to take necessary measures to keep the parliament area clean.Besides, the committee asked the PWD to take immediate steps for the renovation of the worn-down roads on the parliament premises.The committee directed the Housing and Public Works Secretary, PWD chief engineer and DMP commissioner to attend the next meeting in this regard.The was also attended by committee members ASM Firoz, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, ABM Ashraf Uddin and MA Mannan.
